As much as I love finding a new book for myself, I think it’s even more thrilling to discover one for someone else.

This happened the other day when I stumbled across a book review in Books & Culture for the bestselling mystery novel Dog on It.

This isn’t a kid’s book but the mystery story is told in the voice of a dog named Chet, whose owner is a private eye.

One of my daughters loves mysteries and loves dogs so I immediately placed a hold on it for her at the library, hoping she’d like it.

It arrived yesterday and I gave it to her. She spent the afternoon devouring it.

I like mysteries too so I hope to read it,  if I can ever pry myself from all the non-fiction I’m reading these days.

If you like mysteries you might want to check it out too.
